What's the Slick Films Fund?
The Slick Films Fund, brought to life by Oscar®-winning production company Slick Films, is one of the UK's most exciting initiatives for short filmmakers and first-time creators. Backed by industry heavyweights and in association with the Bolton Film Festival, it's returning for its third year with £10,000 production funding for bold short films and £3,000 specifically for standout first-time filmmakers.
But it's so much more than just a cash prize — winners also receive mentorship, festival strategy support, industry consultations, technical resources, and promotional features that help launch careers.
CinePlatform's Support
We're proud to be joining forces with the Slick Films Fund in a partnership that's all about nurturing creative voices.
Full year's CinePlatform subscription for successful applicants
We'll be offering all winners a full year's free subscription to CinePlatform — our all-in-one creative production software that helps filmmakers plan, manage, and execute their projects without chaos.
Workshops throughout the year
Filmmaking shouldn't be a solo journey. That's why we'll be offering exclusive workshops for Fund applicants that dive into the craft and business of filmmaking with CinePlatform as a tool, from planning to production, distribution to festival strategy.
Special discounts
Applicants and participants will also receive exclusive CinePlatform discounts on future plans because investing in your craft shouldn't break the bank.
Why It Matters
Chris Overton, Founder of Slick Films and Oscar®-winning director, said it best: "It's the software every filmmaker has been waiting for." That's high praise and we couldn't agree more. CinePlatform was built to solve the real challenges filmmakers face: fragmented tools, endless spreadsheets, and the stress of trying to juggle every aspect of production with no unified system.
Together with the Slick Films Fund, we're lowering barriers, building confidence, and helping storytellers bring their visions to life from script to screen.
